Our freind, Dave, was, in my mind the definition of af a true fighter pilot and patriot. If I remember correctly he volunteered for two tours in Viet Nam flying the "Thud," the F-105 Thunderchief. I remember as a brand new F-106 pilot, Dave pulling me aside after an evening briefing, taking me under his wing and checking in with me as to whether I was up to flying a radar trail departure in thoroghly rotten weather at night. Dave possesed an incredible amount of aviation knowledge and experience that I was grateful to have access to. No one could tell a story like Dave, though. They were always entertaining, yet usually had a point to them. It just took him forever to get to that point :) I'm going to miss him. Aileron Dave Cobb's Obituary |
